It is Mother's Day on May 10, 2026,c which has been captured by the modern markets and crass materialism.

However, Vedic scriptures lay special emphasis on reverence towards mothers since their contribution to society is said to be manifolds that than fathers.

Scriptures say that from the point of view of reverence we owe, a teacher is ten-fold superior to a mere lecturer, a father is hundredfold to a teacher and a mother a thousand-fold to a father.

Thus, scriptures hold that mother is the most exalted and worthy of respect and service. The unparalleled emotions of affection, forbearance and care possessed by a mother for her children has been described in many scriptural verses and she has been equated to the first God and Guru of the child.
