Visual drawing, visual reading & visual-interrupted communication make science instruction effective

"An organic or detailed visual when interfered or intervened to create space and provide opportunities for cognitive functions such as analysis, interpretation, evaluation, decision making possible is said to disrupted or mediated," says Dr Lalit Kishore. in one of his earlier blogs while holding visuals have a great attention capturing and spectatorship value and teachers need to make of simple visual line drawings to illustrate concepts.

An attempt was made to summarize the topic of "Forces and Motion" of grade VIII at the Plenum School in HP, by a quick line drawing chart which was made in 15 minutes and transacted in 10 minutes with some visual text around the visuals on the chart.

Since, there were only three students in grade VIII in this small school, they were asked to explain the chart on volunteering basis, they got an experience of picture reading and visual-interrupted communication. Later, they were asked to draw the visuals to get a hang of diagram drawing which are the hallmark of science communication.

The students liked the summarizing of the chapter through simple visuals with minimal text around them. Also, it was realized that when the experience and habit formation of picture reading is inculcated systematically, it would stand a good stead in students' higher education level disciplinary studies. The pedagogical experiment was repeated in grade ten too. It was implicated that the exercises of captioning pictures and visuals should also be imparted in every science topic.
