Most pigeons are peace loving and mild-mannered. However, they fight and squabble from time to time. Occasionally, serious, injurious and deadly fights also take place .
Here, as shown in the video, on our house top two pigeons fought since they were new to each other and did not like each others company. Consequently the parted their company and flew away one by one.
However, their can be other following reasons for fights among pigeons.
To exerts dominance and claim space
When they get possessive about a perch or place, they starts nitpicking the other pigeons on their arrival near them
Fighting over territory is likely something you’ll see more among feral pigeons
When a pigeon is protecting babies
While claiming food
To steal mate which is rare but when it happens it is a deadly fight
