World Autism Awareness Day 2026 is set be held on April 2, 2026, with theme is “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value,”marking a global effort to promote creation of neuro-inclusive environments and actions in health, education in families, schools and workplaces. The observance is being coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO) with a call to action for governments and communities to support the rights of the 1 in 127 people diagnosed with autism globally.


Autism is a pervasive developmental delay which manifests symptoms in areas of language, social interaction, sensory integration, behavior and learning. Children with autism (CWA) have difficulty attending to and staying on at a task. With an diagnosis of autism and therapeutical treatment couple with Iidividual Education Plans in micro learning format one can lengthen their attention span, special education practitioners need to utilize more intervention strategies addressing inattention

learn to regulate their responses.


With the fast life styles and market driven economy, autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the world. Even with normal children, at the foundational stage of education, there should daily attentiveness training sessions through play-way activities, eye movement and eye-hand coordination activities. .


Since attention and impulse control form the basic pre-learning skills of preschool-aged children, it will be necessary for CWA to increase such learning prerequisites for success in school. Origami and doodle-art intervention program added to the typical early-childhood education programmes would lead to increased levels of attentiveness. Self-awareness training with activities of daily life is another intervention that can be taken up with kids in schools.


It needs to be understood that Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder which is more commonly known as autism. This disorder affects the way the brain uses information. The disorder affects functionality on cognitive processing resulting in stereotypic behaviors. Autism usually affects the individual from birth for which the indicators the lack of eye contact, lack of attention to the same item or topic the other interacting person is focusing on, and the lack of reciprocal conversation or turn-taking. A spectrum disorder means that its symptoms range from mild to severe.
