The discipline of Science of Living (SOL) or Jeevan Vigyan (JV) is an off-shoot of Anuvrat Movement launched by Jain monk Acharya Shri Tulsi which was further developed and expanded by Acharya Shri Mahapragya and now being implemented as a curricular activity under 12 themes of value education by the Kendriya Jeevan Vigyan Academy,

Ladnun (Rajasthan).

According to the former director of Jeevan Vigyan Academy, Lalit Kishore, the Science of Living (SOL) course bridges the gap between modern scientific knowledge and ancient spiritual wisdom to balance emotional, mental, physical, and intellectual growth of students since it emphasizes the cultivation non-violence (Ahimsa), resolute willpower, and emotional control. The deemed university Jain Vishav Bharti, Ladnun, rajasthan offers formal academic degrees under this program (such as an M.A./M.Sc. in Yoga and Science of Living). Besides being taught as discipline at Jain Vishav Bharati, some Jin schools and State like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi have integrated elements of Jeevan Vigyan to promote value-based education. Currently, Under NEP-2020, space exists for reseach, studies and projects for Jainsism within the scheme of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)

The school level SOL course that has 12 units with books are available, the schools can start the course for value education and character development, The intent of each unit is explained through haiku as follows.

 In Summary

Kishore (2026) highlights that Jeevan Vigyan (Science of Living) is a value-education curriculum inspired by Jain monks that bridges ancient spiritual wisdom with modern science. The initiative originated from the Anuvrat Movement and has expanded to bridge modern science with ancient Jain spiritual wisdom, into a curriculum of value education that focuses on holistic character development. Kishore employs the 17-syllable Japanese haiku format to distill the course's 12 core units into meditative tools for holistic student development.
